We Are Stronger Together Than We Realise

Presenter of Eat To The Beat 1pm and All Mixed Up 6pm each Wednesday

Over recent months, many of us have watched the news with a mixture of frustration, sadness, anger, and uncertainty. Discussions around trans rights, access to services, legal protections, and public life have become headline news once again, leaving many people feeling worried about what the future might hold. Recent changes and guidance affecting single-sex spaces, alongside ongoing public debate about transgender lives and identities, have had a significant impact on many members of our community.

What can often be forgotten in political debates and media stories is that these issues are not abstract. They affect real people. They affect our friends, colleagues, neighbours, family members, and the people who tune in to Trans Radio UK every day. Behind every headline is someone trying to live their life, go to work, access services, spend time with loved ones, and simply be themselves.
It is completely understandable if recent events have left you feeling anxious, exhausted, or overwhelmed. Constant exposure to negative stories can take a real toll on wellbeing. Sometimes the loudest voices are not the kindest ones, and social media can make it feel as though hostility is everywhere.

But it is important to remember something.
The trans community has always faced challenges, and it has always found strength in community, solidarity, and mutual support.
Now, more than ever, we need to look after one another.
If you experience bullying, harassment, discrimination, or hate, please do not suffer in silence. Report it. Talk to someone you trust. Reach out to support organisations. Keep records where possible. No one should be made to feel unsafe simply because of who they are.
Equally important is remembering that online abuse is never a reflection of your worth. The people who seek to intimidate others often rely on fear and isolation. Community is the antidote to both.
That is why spaces like Trans Radio UK matter.

TRUK is more than just a radio station. It is a community. It is a place where people can connect, share experiences, discover new voices, and be reminded that they are not alone. Whether you listen to our music shows, discussions, interviews, or community programmes, you are part of something bigger.
When the news feels overwhelming, remember there are thousands of people standing alongside you.
When social media feels hostile, remember there are people who care.
When you feel isolated, remember that your community is still here.
And when you need support, remember:
TRUK Listens.
We may not always have all the answers, but we can offer something just as important: a space where people are heard, respected, and valued.
So check in on your friends. Reach out to someone who may be struggling. Be kind to yourself. Take breaks from the news when you need to. Celebrate moments of joy wherever you can find them.
Most importantly, never let anyone convince you that you don’t belong.
You do.
And together, we are stronger than any headline.
TRUK Listens. TRUK Supports. TRUK Stands Together.
If recent events have affected your wellbeing, please reach out to trusted friends, community groups, support organisations, or healthcare professionals. You do not have to face things alone. Daividh x
